Founded in the spring of 1938 it serves to organize and promote bridge in the greater Central Ohio area. Central Ohio Bridge Association (COBA) has over 500 active members. COBA sponsors 4 sectionals bridge tournaments each year. Each sectional brings out hundreds of players with each sectional averaging around 100 Tables over a 3 day tournament. COBA also cosponsors the Flying Buckeye Regional with Dayton - Unit 136. Probably COBA most prestigious event is is the Life Master Awards Dinner. The Life Master Dinners is held annually to honor players who acheived the rank of Life Master in the previous calendar year. At this event COBA also gives out the prestigous Owen C Obtez Trophy to the player who earned the most points at the Columbus Sectionals. The John Davis trophy is given to the player who achieved the most masterpoints at COBA sectionals and is also a non-life master. COBA is unit 122 within the American Contract Bridge League organization. Within the ACBL organization Unit 122 is part of District 11 and Region 7.
